Shrine/Special Olympics Fundraiser

A great opportunity has fallen into our lap and your help along with your friends and family are needed to raise money for the Special Olympics and the kids in the Shriners Children hospitals. It is that time of year for the Shriners to sell their Vidalia sweet onions to support their hospitals but the 5th is putting a twist on it.  Each 10 lb. bag is sold for $12 with $5 going to Shrine Hospitals and the farmers. The remaining $2, if purchased through the 5TH District Association, will go to the Special Olympics.

Our current four county goal is to sell at least 200 bags of onions. To give our District Secretary a break, I will spearhead this and collect monies and deliver them. Please email me at or call me at 419-344-8441 to order or with any questions.

We can meet this goal easily Brothers. Let’s step forward and help the kids and our Special Olympians.

Master Craftsman Log Book

We are excited to introduce a valuable new tool that has been created by our Brothers in the 14th District. It is named the Master Craftsman Log Book. The Master Craftsman Log Book is a useful way to track our candidate’s accomplishments as they make their journey into Freemasonry. By using this log you will have, in one location, a quick reference showing the dates of each Degree and Exam. You will also have a record of which of the three proficiencies the candidate had chosen for each Degree. Keep in mind, it is the Candidates choice of which proficiency he will use. He has the choice of Long Form Proficiency, Short Form Proficiency and, our new, Alternate Proficiency. Our 5th District Lodges are encouraged to use this log. The Worshipful Master, Secretary and LEO should strive collectively to keep it current. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to forward them to your District Education Officers. Contact information is in your year book and on the Fabulous 5th website.

The cost for an Athlete to attend the summer games is approximately $200. This figure goes up each year with the cost of housing and food.
We must point out that donations for the “Award Program” are calculated from the money given through the Charitable Foundation for the Sponsor-an-Athlete program. We have no way of tracking money given to the local organization by your lodge. We would also like to remind you that checks should be made out to the Charitable Foundation, and should have “Special Olympics” and your lodge number on the memo line. Please earmark these funds for Special Olympics so you will receive credit for your donation. We thank you for your continued support of Special Olympics and Ohio’s Special People.
